    Jewelry Calculator FAQ

How do I estimate the gold value of my jewelry?

Add each piece with its weight and karat. The calculator multiplies the weight by the purity (for example 0.75 for 18k) and by today's live gold price per gram, then adds all items into one total melt value.

How many items can I add?

You can add up to 20 items, each with its own weight, unit and karat, so a mixed box of rings, chains and earrings can be valued in one go.

Is the total what a jeweler will pay me?

No. The total is the melt value at the spot price. Buyers usually pay 70–92% of melt value depending on karat and quantity, and branded or antique pieces may be worth more sold whole.

Should gemstones be included in the weight?

No. Stones add weight but no gold value. Remove them if possible, or subtract an estimate of their weight before entering the item.

Where do the gold prices come from?

Live spot prices and exchange rates come from MetalflowAPI and refresh every 5 minutes. See the methodology page for the full formulas.
